(Extract from Man Kwok Yat Po,Canton. 30th April 1926)

Welcome of Colonel C.L. Estrange Malone by the

Chinese Labour Union at Peking.

On the 13th instant (April), the Chinese Labour Union held a meeting to offer a welcome to Colonel C.L. Estrange Malone, and the latter spoke as follows:

-

"It was not easy in England to obtain much true news about the Chinese movements in China. It was all held up by the Imperialists' Propaganda Centre. We English workmen have always helped the Chinese in their opposition against British Imperialism. It was for their help that the British Imperialists had dropped their proposal to deal with Canton by force. They are all the time keeping an eye on their economic policy against the Chinese and English workmen, and have prevented them from removing their factories to China, in order to profiteer by making the Chinese work overtime at a comparatively low rate of wagos. The English workmen should work hand in hand with the Chinese workmen in English factories in China. I shall urge the English workmen to send a representation to China to promote a systematic Labour Union, The Chinese National revolution has met with many obstacles obstacles, but final victory will surely be gained, if the help of the English

workmen is secured".
